The Legislative branch is in charge of creating laws but the Executive Branch is in charge of enforcing the laws and programs to help the people of Missouri. The State Governor is the leader of the Executive Branch of Missouri. It is the governor's job to select people to lead committees and groups that will make programs to help the people and communities of Missouri.
The governor has the final say in Missouri. The Legislative Branch creates ideas for laws called Bills. The governor can veto, or cancel the bill, or they can approve the bill. However, if 2/3 of the Legislative Branch agrees with the bill, the bill will become a law even if the governor has vetoed it.
The governor of Missouri must be at least 30, have lived in Missouri for 10 years, and have been a citizen of the United States for 15 years. The governor can only serve for two four year terms. The people of Missouri will vote for the governor.
